Plumfield Academy’s mission is to provide a transformative educational experience and enable students to thrive in a serene and enriching environment.
Redefining School for Every Boy
This means we connect with our students. We validate their experiences. We lead by example and model new behaviors for them. We are here to attend to them, guide them, encourage them, teach them and support them.
Why? Because we are crafting a brand new experience of what it’s like to be “in school” for every boy who comes here. We are turning the tide of what school can be like for someone who struggles, someone who doesn’t quite “fit,” or someone whose needs are greater than his previous school could manage.
We are making school a place where a boy’s needs can get met. Most importantly, we are teaching each student what he will need—cognitively, emotionally and socially—to be his unique self in the world . . . while also being a solidly contributing citizen to his community.

Our Beliefs
Individualized, Personalized Learning: For students to grow into confident learners with positive social skills, they need individualized attention to their unique needs.
Belonging: Creating a caring community where students feel like they belong isn’t just a nice thing to have. It’s an essential element for students to be able to grow emotionally in positive ways.
Inclusivity: Safety, calm, respect, and acceptance are basic human needs. We must offer all of these if we want students to be their best authentic selves.
Encouragement: Encouragement and support are a big part of making growth a reality. If we want students to learn and grow, they must feel like they can.
Resilience: Setbacks and challenges are a natural part of learning and life. Our students must have positive experiences where their perseverance is rewarded, and they see for themselves that they can overcome adversity.
