Our clinical team includes our Executive Director, Director of Therapeutic Services, Social Worker, and our Speech and Language Pathologist.
Individual Counseling
Our students need support in various areas of social and emotional development and receive individual counseling on at least a weekly basis. Our Licensed Therapists, develop a strong working relationship with each student to guide staff interventions throughout the year.
Our students have the most success behaviorally when family and school can work closely together.
Small Group Counseling
For many students, small group counseling sessions are a part of their daily schedule. The group therapy focuses on developing positive peer relationships by practicing skills such as:
- Effective listening
- Sharing attention
- Appropriate attention-seeking
- Giving and receiving feedback
- Exploring what it means to relate to others and be responsible
- Family Support & Case Management
We use a strengths-based approach.
How We Work
Our clinical team is also available to work with families to create an accurate understanding of each student’s needs—both at home and at school. We have seen that our students have the most success behaviorally when family and school can work closely together to keep vital structures and routines consistent. Our team coordinates an individualized approach for each student by working with their families, school districts, and Plumfield’s educational specialists and support staff. Our team also creates transitional plans for students exiting or entering Plumfield Academy.
Psychiatric Support
Our clinical team can work with a student’s Psychiatrist and other providers to help create a clear picture of how the student is functioning at school. We are also available to consult with the family for medication evaluation or other needs.
